MTV Reality Star Caught Shooting Shark With A Handgun

This summer’s newest “hit” show premiered last Monday on MTV, entitled “Siesta Key.” The show follows a group of young supposed college students around a small beach town in Sarasota, Florida, and is promised to be filled with “Laguna Beach-like drama.” While critics are still unsure of the show and what to make of it, millions of people are outraged over the behavior of its star, Alex Kompothecras.

Leading up to the show’s premiere, Kompothecras came under fire after friend and member of his fishing team, Michael Wenzel, was exposed for animal abuse when a video of him dragging a shark behind his boat came to surface (no pun intended). Wenzel is under investigation for the video, and Kompothecras could be too- there’s two other men in the video, who have been identified but names have not been released. Sources close to the situation have even gone so far to identify the boat as Kompothecras’, but so far its just a speculation.

He told People Magazine that he’s “absolutely horrified” by Wenzel’s actions and that he’s “disappointed and personally offended.” But here’s where it gets interesting; after such comments were made about Wenzel, another video surfaced of Kompothecras blatantly committing acts of animal cruelty. Not only did they surface, but they appeared on his Instagram account…the definition of no shame whatsoever.

In the video, Kompothecras is seen smiling and laughing with friends as he shoots a hammerhead shark twice with a handgun. He is now under investigation as the FWC tries to determine if Kompothecras was in international waters when the heinous act took place, as shooting marine life of any kind is illegal in Florida. Since the allegations, Kompothecras, along with the rest of the “Siesta Key” cast, has been receiving death threats.

If you’re curious as to what an animal abuser looks like when he’s caught in a factious love triangle, you can tune in to MTV on Monday nights at 10pm.
