Driving is an awesome privilege and it has become an indispensable tool for most people.
There are around 250 million registered vehicles in the U.S. alone. That’s a lot of people on the road and that also means that there’s a lot of potential for danger.
Even the slightest reduction in speed can help most people to avoid collisions or accidents, and improve the outcomes of victims if something unfortunate does come to pass.
Just take this footage from the U.K. as an example. The event took place in January but the footage has just recently been released by Andy Daynes. The 35-year-old motorcyclist captured the event that happened near Norfolk using his helmet cam. It’s truly chilling.
Somehow, the van was launched 12 feet into the air. Miraculously, the driver survived unscathed but had to be cut out from the wreckage by the emergency services that quickly appeared on the scene.
Andy, the motorcyclist that captured the footage, explained:
“I was actually on my motorbike behind him so I saw it all. I pulled over along with some other drivers to see if he was OK.
He had to be cut out of the van – but he seemed to be alright, he wasn’t badly injured. It is quite a bad roundabout, he just didn’t see what was coming because he was going so fast.
He was on his own, he had a few cuts and bruises but the ambulance came straight away and took him to hospital. He just didn’t see the roundabout coming.”
This is a visceral reminder that we all need to pay extra attention when driving and take it easy when it comes to the speeds that we drive at. Stay safe out there and look out for obstacles!

According to Think, a UK based driver safety network:
“The difference of a few miles per hour can mean the difference between life and death. The faster someone is driving, the less time they have to stop if something unexpected happens.
If you kill someone while speeding, you will have to live with the long-term emotional consequences.
Speed limits are there for a reason.”
And they are right. Slow down fam, let’s be a little safer out there.
