Imagine walking into the coffee shop, and hearing a live guitar player belt out “now, stop, and wiggle with it”.
The guitar player is Dan Henig and the song he’s performing to an unknowing crowd is Lil John’s famous 2002 record “Get Low”.
You know the song, “From the window to the wall”, many of us got our first dancefloor action to this track. Literally the very last song you would expect to hear in a quiet coffee shop.
Normally playing Lil John in a place of work, especially Seattle, is highly frowned upon. However people seem to be enjoying it. And heck, they should! What an incredibly awesome acoustic rendition
Somehow the soft pitch in Henig’s voice dulls the hard F’s and obscenities.
He transforms the song from an extremely raunchy and explicit rap to a beautiful acoustic silhouette of what all coffee shops need to sound like.
Dan has a track record for doing just that to several other dirty back in the day classics.
With over 500M video views across the web, he’s quite familiar with going viral. He’s covered other rap like “Move Bitch” by Ludacris and “My Neck, My Back” by Khia.
But that’s not all he does. Dan’s signed to the label Th3rd Brain and performs ghostwriting on the side. He co-wrote multiple songs with fellow Th3rd Brain artist Krewella.
Dan also did a song with America’s Got Talent Winner Grace Vanderwaal and even co-wrote a Billboard top 100 track (#43) with his friend Lauren Duski on “Déjà vu”.
Dan, you have a hilarious and bright future ahead of you – keep rockin’.
