For the most people in big cities, transportation means using the subway.
Now, if you are a subway passenger and use it on the everyday basis, you have probably witnessed a lot of annoying things. The noise, the smell, the people’s inadequate behavior, the crowd, the temperature, etc.
Unfortunately, those are things that annoy way too often. But from time to time, there are some unusual, extraordinary things you encounter in the subway.
In the video that was posted on the Instagram account peopleofpennstation, one passenger filmed one of those situations. Passengers were shocked when they went down to the subway and saw a huge flood. The train going to the World Trade Center was covered with water.
The water was pouring down on it from above while some people were sitting on the train. There was a large puddle of water in front of the train, as well.
As expected from the New Yorkers, the comments were interesting and honest. While few of them blamed the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for this incident and calling the NYC a first world city with the third world infrastructure, the others joked about the situation.
Some assumed that the flood is the new washing system for the train, a “drive-through wash” or “self-washing train”.
Some alluded to people’s bad hygiene saying that at least some people will get a shower.
Inevitably, one user quoted a famous De Niro line
“Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets.”
Travis Bickle, Taxi Driver (1976). To check out how this unusual situation looked like, watch the video below.
