For way too long meditation has been associated with monks, and religious practices, never have we explored its effects on sex.
Founder of Ziva Meditation, Emily Fletcher, and author on Mind Body Green.com had this to say in a recent article.
“He came to me [a student] after a full year of twice-a-day meditation and said, “You joked once before about meditation making my sex better, but what’s happening for me is crazy. I need answers.”
Animalistic, raw and mind-blowing were the most memorable adjectives he then used to describe his new found sexual prowess.”
The student described being able to last much longer during intercourse, felt more control over his orgasms, and had way more energy.
Scientifically, how can this happen?
If you’re like most guys living in this age of never ending communication and demands from life, you may have higher stress levels.
According to science, stress increases cortisol and adrenaline levels in your body, and these increased levels of cortisol and adrenaline are known to decrease sexual desire.
You probably know by now, mediation can be an incredibly effective stress-reducing tool. Therefore, we can reason that mediation, through reducing cortisol and adrenaline, can have an extraordinary effect on your sex life.
Okay but my sexual desire is on point…. What else can it do?
Asides from stress relief, meditation connects you closer to your body, allowing greater control of your feelings and senses.
This can certainly translate to the bedroom as well says Emily, founder of Ziva Meditation.
The practice of tantric sex, or sex that lasts for over an hour, is accomplished through orgasm control, and control of blood flow.
Even meditating for 5 minutes a day can teach yourself how to control your mind and body.
