“Music is a beautiful thing, it’s a beautiful thing ”
Mac tells the NPR Tiny Desk Concert audience as he laughingly finds ways to fill the emptiness between songs in his 3 track epic, and what would be one of his last but very best live performances.
Then in our favorite moment in an intimate setting, Miller shares to the world, with a string quartet in the background and melodious piano loop, a reflection of life seemingly understood.
I ain’t asking why no more
I know I’ll take it if it’s mine
I don’t stay inside the lines
It ain’t 2009 no more
Yeah, I know what’s behind that door
Mac played 3 songs from his latest album “Swimming” with his regular recent cast of collaborators including the bassist Thundercat, who was to go on tour with him this October.
He was grown in this video. You could hear the meaning in his voice behind every lyric. The Pittsburgh MC is in his natural element.
Far from today’s mumble rap, his experimentation’s in life and sound design were immortalized in each album he put out.
Anyone who appreciates music can appreciate this very special and genuine live performance.
You can watch the amazin performance here:
“I wasn’t a huge Mac Miller fan, but finding this performance; as a music fan, I had to keep it on repeat. Just yesterday I saw my sister and my 2 year old niece and one of the things I had to do was show them this concert and groove and and dance to this this great artist.” – Dennis L
“Nobody will be iller than Mac Miller, 90s kid shining with an old soul. Genuine artist no fools gold.”
